Father Herman
Last Saturday Fr. Herman announced that Bishop Knestout has transferred him to become pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes in Richmond, effective July 1.
We are grateful to Fr. Herman for his seven years of faithful service to our parish. During his pastorate, parish enrollment doubled. He humbly accepted our request for him to celebrate the Traditional Latin Mass, and he shepherded our parish's transformation into the most reverent Mass in the region.
We will miss his dedication to our sacramental needs, especially in the Confessional, and we wish him well in his new assignment.

Corpus Christi Procession
Processions are an ancient custom. Joshua led the Israelites in seven processions around Jericho (Joshua 6). King David (2 Samuel 6) and King Solomon (1 Kings 8) led processions also. In all three instances, the center of the procession was the Ark of the Covenant, the chief sign of God’s presence among his people and the source of their strength. In addition to containing the tables of the Law, the Ark may also have contained a quantity of manna (cf. Exodus 16 and Hebrews 9).
When Christ established the New Covenant, Christians continued the Jewish custom of processions, and you are witnessing this custom today. In place of the Old Testament Ark, they carry the new sign of God’s presence among his people, the new manna, Christ’s own body, consecrated from unleavened bread as he himself did at the Last Supper.
Like the Israelites in ancient times, the People of God today process primarily as an act of public worship, proclaiming in the public square their unwavering belief in God and in his real presence within the Ark of the New Covenant. They also process to bless the countryside, to ward off evil, and to show their unity of belief and worship with the People of God around the world and across the ages.
