Alms for the Poor Second Collection

There will be a second collection this Saturday to fund local requests for material assistance. All Saints Catholic Church assists our neighbors with acute needs on a case by case basis.  These needs are generally help with payment for past due utility bills or emergency short term housing. The pastor approves these requests after the recipients and their needs are verified. For example, any public utility assistance is paid directly to the company and is capped, per recipient on an annual basis. All Saints will have a second collection on the 3rd Saturdays of February, May, August, and November going forward. Donations that are collected in excess of disbursements will roll over each year increasing the balance in this account.

At last a second collection we can look forward to and embrace whole heartedly! Remember, God cannot be outdone in generosity.

Summer Seminar Series

A new summer seminar series in continuing religious education for adults and older teens will meet monthly in June, July and August. Join us  for a seminar-style discussion of selected texts. Our June meeting will take place on June 19th and will be hosted at the home of Vicki and Chris Borin. We will meet at 6 pm. Our text for June is Ronald Knox's The Mass In Slow Motion. Deepen your appreciation of the Mass in general, and the extraordinary form in particular, by reading this delightful series of sermons written for the students of a convent school in England during World War II. Please consider bringing a finger food contribution and contact Vicki Borin or Kay Beers with any questions. The dates for the other months are July 17th and August 21st.  Texts and details for July and August will be announced soon.

Women’s Social

Please come for an evening of recollection, prayer, and fellowship at the home of Nicki Bowen from 6:30 to 9pm on Thursday, May 21st. During this month which is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary let us reflect more on how our Blessed Mother is guiding us to holiness of life especially in our duties as wives and mothers.  The evening will end with a Rosary meditation.  Please bring a candle and a rosary.

The Novena to the Holy Spirit

This begins TODAY Friday, May 15th, the day after Ascension Thursday.  This novena is the very first novena ever prayed by the Church– by Mary and the apostles themselves!  They and the others that were in the Upper Room with them were waiting and praying wholeheartedly for NINE days for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, as Our Lord had promised as He ascended into Heaven.   Here's a link to the novena:  https://mycatholic.life/catholic-prayers/novena-to-the-holy-spirit/
