 Baby Shower

Let us celebrate Calvin and Emily's soon to be born baby on August 8th after the 5pm Mass.  ALL are welcome to stay and celebrate with Calvin and Emily and enjoy food and fellowship.  Please sign-up HERE to bring food/treats to share.  

If you wish to bring a gift, please keep these details in mind:

• Calvin and Emily live off-grid (limited food storage;no freezer).  If you would like to put together a meal as a gift, please only use dry ingredients (for example: dry ingredients/dehydrated food in a jar for making soups or stews; granola/nuts/dried fruit, etc.).

• Diapers  are welcome; preferred brand is mykudos.

• Emily is interested in hearing more from the mamas about baby-wearing, especially for the newborn stage.  Please bring your favorite sling, wrap, or carrier to the gathering so that Emily can learn more about those options.

• Please bring an index card or note with any birth affirmations that you would like to share with Calvin and Emily.  These could be words from Scripture, other prayers, words of encouragement, etc. especially to be read during labor.

Potluck Date Change to August 22

Due to scheduling conflicts, we will be having our monthly potluck on the fourth Saturday, August 22nd, after the 5pm mass. This potluck will be one in which we celebrate and welcome Father Dolosa to our parish and it will be held on the All Saints grounds. Please bring a serving utensil if you are able.

Summer Seminar Series Continues

Many Thanks to all who participated in our June and July Summer Seminars. 

The reading for the July seminar was  From Christendom to Apostolic Mission - Pastoral Strategies for an Apostolic Age by Monsignor James Shea, and published by The University of Mary. This short book develops an argument in support of more effective strategies for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and awakening a Catholic imaginative vision in society. 

For August, our topic will be the sequel to the July text, The Religion of the Day, by Jonathan Reyes and James Shea, also published by The University of Mary. We will meet on August 21, at 6pm at the Borin’s home. Please bring a finger food to share.

A Very Special Indulgence

The Portiuncula Indulgence, is upon us - August 2 is the feast of Our Lady of the Angels of Portiuncula, a particularly important devotion in the Franciscan tradition.

It marks the day Saint Francis of Assisi’s Portiuncula church, or “little portion” church, was dedicated after Christ called him to “rebuild My church.”

 In a vision in July of 1216, Jesus, Our Lady, and angels presented Saint Francis of Assisi with the “Pardon ofAssisi,” which is what the  Church recognizes today.

This indulgence has been expanded many times throughout the centuries.  It is now structured such that, between noon on August 1 and midnight of August 2, the faithful may receive a plenary indulgence, under the usual conditions, by 1) wanting to receive the indulgence, 2) visiting any parish church (though a Franciscan church is traditional, and the Portiuncula itself is the most traditional), 3) praying one Our Father, one Apostle's Creed, and one other prayer of the individual's choice, 4) praying for the Pope's intentions, 5) while being free from all sin (including venial sin), and 6) going to Confession and receiving the Eucharist within 20 days before or after.

 Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, or OCIA, formerly known as RCIA, is the process by which we receive adults into full communion with the Church. This period of formation is an important time for new and returning Catholics to learn and grow in their faith while preparing to receive the Sacraments.
