First Holy Communion & Brown Scapular Investiture

On Sunday, May 3rd five children will celebrate their First Holy Communion at a traditional Latin Mass here at All Saints.  The time is to be determined. Check the ASCC website for updates. Please keep the Mammi, Bowen, Anderson, Whitney, and Cooper families in your prayers as they  finish preparation for First Holy Communion.

After Mass all who would like to be enrolled in the Brown Scapular Confraternity are welcome to join the first communicants in the enrollment ceremony.   The Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel is a sacramental worn by Catholics as a sign of devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, promising protection from eternal fire for those who die wearing it with faith. It originated in 1251 when Our Lady appeared to St. Simon Stock, instructing him to share this devotion with the faithful.

Can you Volunteer?

We have some parish volunteer roles that still need to be filled!

  • Safe Environment – Ensure all parish events and activities, both on- and off-premises meet safe environment standards; coordinate safe environment training and certification; ensure all volunteers are current in their training.

  • Pro-Life – Educate parishioners about current events pertaining to life issues; liaise with worthy pro-life organizations (local, regional, and national).

  • Outreach – Contact local nursing home to coordinate any needs of Catholic residents (sacraments, visits from priest or volunteer, Christmas gifts); contact Plenty food bank and communicate needs to parish; deliver food donations; communicate with the local needy who call the parish for assistance.

  • Altar Guild – Plan and run meetings and events for women of the parish.

Recurring Fundraisers – Plan and execute annual yard sale, bake sale(s), etc.

Are you willing to take on one of these leadership roles in the parish? By taking on a role, you're not promising to do everything in your role by yourself! Instead, you're agreeing to be the "responsible party" or "point person" for everything in your category. You should feel free to enlist volunteers to help you.

To volunteer or to learn more, please speak to JJ Mammi or directly to Fr. Herman.

Already Fr. Herman has named the following parishioners to parish volunteer roles:

  • Liturgy: JJ Mammi

  • Security / ERT: Joshua Anderson

  • Evangelization: Vicki Borin

  • Religious Education of Youth: Amy Provencher

  • Religious Education of Adults / Ongoing Catechesis: Kay Beers

  • Parish Life and Socials: Lorna Wanner

  • Maintenance and Grounds: Dan Bowen

  • Church Cleaning: Nanette Showalter

If you would like to get involved in one of these areas, please speak to the point person above.

Bible Study

Our next parish Bible study will be a study of St Paul’s letter to the Romans. The study will begin on Monday, April 27 at All Saints at 10 am. We will meet for eight consecutive Mondays.  We will use  the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible, with commentary, questions, and notes by Scott Hahn and Curtis Mitch. All are welcome. Contact Kay Beers for more information or with questions.

From the publisher: Based on the RSV-Catholic Edition, this Bible Study of the book of Romans, written by Bible teachers Scott Hahn and Curtis Mitch, uses the biblical text itself and the Church's guidelines for understanding the Bible. The commentary notes provide insights into the historical, cultural, geographical and theological information pertinent to the book of Romans.

There is also an introductory essay covering questions of authorship, date, destination, structure and themes. Study Questions are provided at the end of each chapter for enriching your personal study. The Ignatius Study Bible also includes Topical Essays, Word Studies and Charts. Large format, featuring large text size and additional margin space for personal annotations!
